My story is made of thousands of words. All jumbled. Too many are the same. Nothing stands out. When I look at it all at once, nothing is in focus. Everything looks flat, unoriginal.
I take a step back, try some distance. Let it breathe. Now I see some beauty, a few gems. Things to keep. But still…it’s crazy unorganized, needs focus.
I have to sort through, eliminate the unnecessary, find the central image, the core of the story. Less is more.
I change my perspective, try to see things from a different point of view. Maybe there’s something I’m not getting, something new inside the chaos.
Yes. I found it. It was there all along.

Linden! Great topic, and I love your illustrative approach:-D Fun and thought-provoking!
I like your use of the Santa Barbara daisies! They’re my favorite.

What a perfect visual metaphor!
Ooh! Like.
Awesome. You just wrote a picture book of what we do!
Love this: “Maybe there’s something I’m not getting, something new inside the chaos.” That’s what I’m wresting with myself now with my revisions. Time for a walk amongst the daisies.
Lovely!
Zoom in and there it is–a little face among the daisies. Love the perspective. Long may you zoom!
I like your take on perspective. It’s always there; just takes awhile to find it.
Linden, She Writes is highlighting blog posts with the theme of summer right now. You should think about posting this there!
Nice idea, Rachel! Thanks!
A visual essay–so cool! I really liked wandering through this world.
